Talking TV and theater




1. Fawlty Towers is set in a 1970s Torquay hotel. Basil Fawlty, the owner of the establishment, is a man of infinite rudeness with a rabid dislike of guests. His wife Sybil seems immune to work and so it's down to poor Polly the waitress to get Basil out of trouble. Meanwhile the Spanish porter Manuel is just trying to learn a spot of English.
Fawlty Towers is now considered one of the GREATEST sitcoms of all time. The global success it has achieved is quite a feat considering only 12 episodes of this classic exist. It perfectly captures the reality of the middle-class English.

2. Monthy Python was created in the late 1960s by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. The six members of the team had got to know each other gradually in the preceding years, firstly through university - Graham, John and Eric were at Cambridge together, while Terry Jones and Michael were at Oxford - and later through their work on various television comedy programmes, most notably The Frost Report.... more here
